Bonnetthead Shark Fishing
Bonnetthead Sharks are one of my favorite creatures in the ocean and definitely my favorite shark. We target them often on our inshore charters. These guys swim around in our inshore waters in search of the Blue Crab and they are around only for the summer and early fall. Bonnettheads have adaptations which make them the perfect crab hunters. The wide head which is full of nose is perfect for sniffing out the blue crabs when they are hiding down in the oysters. They can turn on a dime with their large dorsal fin and ultra flexible body. We target these sharks on our inshore trips and find them around oyster bars and some mudflats. They are super fun to watch. We see them cruising in the shallows very often in the summer. Bonnetthead sharks are very powerful and very fast. There are a blast to catch on light tackle and are very common in the summer when fishing the Isle of Palms and Charleston area.
